Concept Demo

The UX Team was tasked with producing a vision of the company's future to show at Unite Us' annual conference for industry members known as the One Continuum. Over the course of 10 days, I led a small team of designers to storyboard, prototype, and produce concept demos that envisioned the future of social care and how AI could empower both users and clients to achieve better outcomes.

BACKGROUND

Finding the problems with the best potential for AI

I partnered with our UX Researcher to conduct a brainstorming session where the UX team identified key user and business pain points, which affected the following groups:

🔁

UU Employees experience highly manual, repetitive workflows, which results in extended turnaround times.

🔍

Users are forced to navigate several fragmented experiences in order to help their clients.

🗓️

Clients have no way to directly access the resources available to them in the UU network.

CONCEPT DEMOS

Future solutions to present problems

Taking an aspirational blue-sky approach, I led the effort to brainstorm ideas and turn the best ones into polished concepts through prototyping, animation, narration and video editing.

Automated Form Builder

Problem: Internal users take weeks to create custom screening forms for customers due to complexity and inefficient workflows.

Solution: User uploads screening PDF, then an AI agent analyzes and automatically creates the form, cross-checking with a centralized question bank to standardize questions.

AI Case worker assistant

Problem: Users must deal with multiple heavy workflows in order to refer client.

Solution: Case worker agent acts on client notes, automatically finds best resources for client, composes messages and contacts client, waiting on their approval to file referral.

Client AI chat agent

Problem: Clients have no direct way to access the referral system and its resources.

Solution: A patient-facing mobile web app with AI agent that recommends the best resources based on their circumstances and automatically connects them to a case worker.

Customizable AI Dashboard

Problem: Users are often unaware of the next best steps and have difficulty keeping track of clients in the platform.

Solution: Custom landing dashboard displays latest client updates and recommends next best courses of action across several workflows.

RECEPTION

"Thanks for the quick turnaround!"

The concept videos we had produced were aired at the One Continuum conference to great fanfare. The Chief Product Officer personally congratulated our team for the work we had done in such little time. Several of the concepts eventually went on to influence the product roadmap and are currently in various stages of production.

As lead designer on this project, it was a fulfilling experience being able to support my fellow designers by helping to develop their concepts, bring them to life and deliver a project that showcased everyone's strengths and creativity.
